ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objective: To examine the level of the accumulating success of the modern Resin-Based Endodontic Surgery (RES) and comparison with Endodontic Microsurgery (EMS) and finally offer a replacement at the predicted final results of EMS. Material and Methods: MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, ISI, Google Scholar have been utilized as electronic databases for systematic literature until 2019. Therefore, Endnote X9, which can be provided in the market, has been applied to manage the electronic titles. Searches have been made with keywords "Endodontic Microsurgery OR EMS", "Resin-Based Endodontic Surgery OR RES", "Regenerative Endodontic Therapy", "Root-End Filling", "Root-End Surgery", "Periapical Surgery" and "Endodontics". Thus, this systematic review has been conducted concerningthe basic investigation of the PRISMA Statement-Preferred Reporting Items designed for the Meta-analyses and Systematic Reviews. Results: A total of RES =19 and EMS =31 with potential pertinent abstracts and topics were discovered in manual and electronic searches. Then, three articles for RES and four studies for EMS publications satisfied our inclusion criteria necessary for systematically reviewing the studies. The analysis showed the success rate for EMS as equal to 1.16 times the probability of the success rate for RES. Conclusion: Micro-surgical procedures superiorly achieved the predictable high success rate for the Root-end surgery compared to conventional methods.

ABSTRACT

Periradicular surgery aims to achieve complete wound healing and regeneration of the periodontal unit. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a platelet concentrate that is widely used to promote tissue healing, and bone induction through its various growth factors has been used in this study. This case report describes the use of PRP unilaterally in a bilateral periapical lesion in the same patient. The site treated with PRP showed better healing than the untreated site. This was confirmed with computed tomography (CT) scan readings. It was hypothesized that PRP could promote tissue regeneration and alveolar bone repair.

ABSTRACT

To document the clinical success of cast post and cores fabricated for anterior teeth. Forty three [43] cast post and cores were fabricated and subsequently evaluated. Patients were recalled for evaluation appointments and clinical success and failure recorded on a proforma and then analyzed. This is a retrospective descriptive study done at the restorative department of Fatima Jinnah Dental College over a period of 4 years [Jan 1999 - Sep 2002]. The cast post and cores had been in place for an average of 19.21 months. 41[95.3%] cast post and cores had never dislodged, 1 [2.1%] had a root fracture and 2 [4.7%] were endodontic failures. A high success rate was recorded for metal cast post and cores

ABSTRACT

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar microscopicamente, em reimplantes tardios de dentes de rato, os efeitos do tratamento da superfície radicular com diferentes soluções. Foram utilizados 30 ratos Rattus norvegicus albinos da linhagem Wistar que tiveram seus incisivos centrais extraídos e deixados sobre a bancada por 6 h. As polpas foram extirpadas e os canais irrigados com solução de hipoclorito de sódio a 1%. Após o preparo endodôntico, a superfície radicular de cada dente foi tratada com solução de hipoclorito de sódio a 1% por 10 min (trocada a cada 5 min) seguida de soro fisiológico por 10 min, e os dentes foram divididos em três grupos com 10 espécimes em cada um. Nos Grupos I, II e III, respectivamente, a superfície radicular foi tratada com fluoreto de sódio fosfato acidulado a 2%, vitamina C e vitamina C efervescente (2 g, Redoxon®). Após obturação com pasta de hidróxido de cálcio os dentes foram reimplantados e os animais foram sacrificados aos 10 e 60 dias. O Grupo I apresentou maiores áreas de reabsorção por substituição e anquilose. Comparando as formas de vitamina C utilizadas, a efervescente (Grupo III) foi a que apresentou resultados mais favoráveis com mais áreas de anquilose e reabsorção por substituição que áreas de reabsorção inflamatória.

A cirurgia paraendodôntica visa solucionar os problemas näo resolvidos pelo tratamento endodôntico convencional. Uma de suas modalidades é a obturaçäo retrógrada, na qual após a realizaçäo da apcicectomia é preparada uma cavidade na superfície apical. Essa cavidade pode ser confeccionada com brocas de aço esférica em baixa rotaçäo e também com pontas ultra-sônicas. Neste artigo, através de um caso clínico, será apresentado uma alternativa para a realizaçäo deste preparo: o micromotor para implante

ABSTRACT

Os autores apresentam um caso de perfuraçäo, com núcleo ultrapassado na altura do terço médio da raiz, do primeiro pré-molar inferior esquerdo, além da presença de parte de outro núcleo abaixo do anterior, com fistula na face vestibular do rebordo alveolar. Constatou-se, radiograficamente, extensa lesäo circunscrita no periodonto adjacente à área da perfuraçäo. A tentativa da remoçäo do núcleo inevitavelmente levaria à fratura da raiz e o retratamento endodôntico era dispensável porque o tratamento anterior foi considerado adequado e a regiäo periapical estava íntegra. Assim optou-se pela intervençäo cirúrgica e selamento da área da perfuraçäo com amálgama. Foi realizado aplainamento da superfície radicular, através da eliminaçäo do excesso do núcleo ultrapassado para o periodonto, corrigida a perfuraçäo da raiz com amálgama e curetado o tecido de granulaçäo presente na lesäo. A cavidade óssea foi preenchida com enxerto ósseo bovino e recoberta com uma barreira de colágeno bovino. Constatou-se o progressivo desaparecimento da lesäo após acompanhamento clínico e radiográfico de 7 dias até 20 meses, embora näo tenha havido reinserçäo da junçäo epitelial ao material do selamento

ABSTRACT

The aim of the study was to evaluate the success of non-vital root resected maxillary molar teeth over a period of four years. Fourteen root resected maxillary molar teeth were evaluated for mobility and probing depth in the area of root resection. Only one failure was observed over a period of four years follow-up. It was observed that removal of one root neither increase the tooth mobility nor the probing depth in most of the cases. It is concluded that non-vital root resection should be considered before molar extraction, because this treatment can provide good results with long term success, provided appropriate patient selection. This procedure can be practised by general dentists with little effort.
